On the continent of Europe, Poland today has one of the most transformative jazz scenes. It owes a lot to the history of "Polish jazz" which is not as much a genre as an attitude. Jazz was somewhat of a underground pastime before Stalin's fall in 1958. The fact that jazz itself carries unstructured ryhthm and features improvization was not welcome under Soviet rule for obvious reason. And the musicians braving themselves to play jazz, often combining traditional Polish melodies, was a political gesture.
 
EABS has been around since 2012 and is one of the most prominent voices in leading the new jazz scene in Poland. Sufficient evidences suggest the influence of Polish hip hop (acts like Kaliber 44 and Trzyha from the 90s). This quintet blends beat / synthesizer heavy grooves with wind instruments. 2061 is a cinematic take on the jazz language, rollercoasting with suspense, drama, twists and turns. The middle eastern melodies add hues of exoticism to their music. Audience can also hear the obvious hip hop / beatmaking influence throughout the album, with the trumpet and saxophone creating tensions and having them resolved.
