In less than 10 years, the young Amaro Freitas has redefined both what one would relate Brazilian jazz to and the kind of context that avant garde piano playing has transcended to.

In this latest album, he engages the listeners in a conversation of what tradition means in an ecosystem. As a homage to the Amazon forest, his polyrhythm playing suggests the omnipresence of violence, hierarchy, compassion, survival and redemption.

The young Frietas made sure he was not alone in this, he enlisted progressive jazz contemporaries such as Shabaka Hutchings and Jeff Parker to participate in this discourse. This album is a feast of respect and humility to both nature and lineage.
